4. Cookies
We use cookies to run the cart, checkout and account features, to understand how visitors find our store, and to measure our Google ads. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie, its purpose and how long it lasts.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only as needed to run our business:
- Payment processor: to take payment and prevent fraud.
- Shipping carriers: your name, shipping address and phone number to deliver your order.
- Website hosting and email providers: to host the site and send order and support emails.
- Google (advertising): we use the Google tag to measure our Google ads and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. Google receives information such as pages viewed, whether you came from an ad, and purchase values. Google’s use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Professional advisers: such as accountants and lawyers, under duties of confidentiality.
- Legal requirements: when required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, the public or us.
- Business transfers: if our business is sold or merged, customer information may transfer to the new owner, who must honor this policy.
Our service providers may use your information only to provide services to us.
6. Selling, sharing and targeted advertising
We don’t sell your personal information for money. We do use Google Ads to measure our ads and to show our ads to people who visited our site, which some U.S. state laws treat as “sharing” personal information for targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising.
You can opt out of this at any time: turn on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) setting in your browser and our site automatically switches off ad personalization for you, or email support@homebackupco.com with the subject line Do not sell or share. We don’t knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
7. How long we keep information
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Order and payment records | Up to 7 years, as needed for tax, accounting and warranty purposes |
| Account information | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| Support emails and claim photos | Up to 3 years after the issue is resolved |
| Marketing email list | Until you unsubscribe |
| Cookies | As listed in our Cookie Policy |
8. How we protect information
The site uses HTTPS encryption for every page. Account passwords are stored encrypted, and payments are handled by our payment processor, so we never store full card numbers. Access to customer information is limited to people who need it to serve you.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we learn of a security incident affecting your personal information, we’ll notify you as required by law.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on the state you live in, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete your personal information.
- Get a copy of your personal information in a portable format.
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising and certain profiling. We don’t do any of these.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
We honor these requests for all customers, wherever you live. To make a request, email support@homebackupco.com from the address linked to your orders or account. We’ll verify your identity by matching information we already hold, and respond within 45 days. You can authorize an agent to make a request for you with your signed permission.
If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line Privacy appeal. We’ll respond to appeals within 45 days.
We may need to keep some information to complete a transaction, comply with the law or resolve disputes; if so, we’ll tell you.
10. Marketing emails
We send marketing emails only if you opt in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to stop them. You’ll still receive emails about your orders.
11. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honor the Global Privacy Control signal: when your browser sends it, our site tells Google not to use your visit for ad personalization. Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland don’t get advertising or measurement cookies from us at all. Because there’s no common standard for Do Not Track, we rely on GPC instead.
12. California residents
We collect the categories of information listed in Information we collect, from the sources and for the purposes described above, and disclose them to the service providers and to Google as listed in How we share information. Device, usage and advertising data are shared with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising; you can opt out as described in Selling, sharing and targeted advertising. We don’t sell personal information for money and don’t use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
Under California’s Shine the Light law, you can ask whether we disclosed personal information to third parties for their direct marketing. We don’t.
13. Children's privacy
Our site is meant for adults and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
14. Where information is processed
We sell only within the United States, and our business is based in Michigan. Some of our service providers may process information in other locations, under contracts that require them to protect it.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we’ll post a notice on the site before it takes effect.
